Antique Bourgogne Limestone

Available in: random sizes

Colour / Texture:

Varies from light to dark beige. The tiles often contain mid to silvery grey tones. There are also noticeable deposits of iron and other oxides, which is what gives the stone it’s attractive colour. A mixture of smooth and worn pieces. As the stone was originally finished by hand there are sometimes chisel marks to surfaces and edges. When initially laid it normally takes a few months of foot traffic for the original beauty of this old floor to return.

Character:

The floors are reclaimed from old properties and manor houses in and around the Burgundy region. With it’s age and netural tones Antique Bourgogne Stone offers a property an instant period feel but with a understated character. This material therefore lends itself to designs where the antique stone is carried through several rooms.

Points to note:

  1. One of the hardest antique stones and suitable for any high traffic area such as kitchens.
  2. As precise tile thickness cannot be guaranteed. it is therefore best to lay this material on a thick sand and cement bed. Do not attempt to lay this floor with a thin bed adhesive.
  3. If a greater allowance is made for wastage then this floor can be laid in coursed lengths provided too that the services of a good tiler are employed.

Usage: Interiors only.
