Refined French Limestone

History:

Quarried from beds that were laid down since the Jurassic period (90 million years ago) this material has been used throughout France since Roman times. Nowadays due to its neutral tones it is a favourite for interior designers and has been used in famous residences and buildings worldwide. The Musee D’Orsay, Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York are just two of its more prestigious receipients.

Colour / Texture:

Light cream to sandy/golden brown with some quartz veining. Attractive pink hues are often found running though tiles. A close grained medium density honed limestone with some surface pitting and the odd fossil.

Character:

The classic understated limestone. Suited to all types of design schemes; period, traditional and contemporary. Due to its neutral tones it is especially popular when stone needs to be carried throughout a property. Lends itself to contemporary schemes and looks very sophisticated when used in a large tile format of 60 x 60 x 2cm (24” X 24” X Ύ”).

Points to note:

  1. Available in slabs up to 60 x 120 x 2 cm (24” x 48” x Ύ”) and up to 100 x 200 x 3 cm (40” x 80” x 1-Ό” )
  2. Suitable for areas of medium traffic.
  3. Care should be taken when handling to avoid chipping.

Interiors and exterior flooring as well as architectural details/facings and sculptures.
