The old rectory
Date: February 2010
Location: East Nottinghamshire
As part of the renovation of an old rectory in a small village in east Nottinghamshire its new owners opted for a Shortland trademark shaker character oak kitchen
Wishing to have something more modern in the kitchen; the key was balancing the heritage of the house against the stainless steels of today’s appliances.
A bespoke kitchen in character oak was a certainty; the timeless shaker style and the knots, wild grain & warming tones of the character oak would compliment other older features of the house. Double thickness White Silestone worktops bring the new and old together paving the way for contemporary features such as the elegant blacks & silvers of Miele & industrial look of the large American Sub-zero fridge-freezer The central island with its seating area offers a great place to have a coffee & read a magazine whilst waiting for the dinner to cook. Its custom made matching Silestone sink & feature tap mean the sink is always nearby for those dirty pots & pans. Large Pan & crockery drawers & plenty of cupboard space mean storage is never a problem, whist the corner pull-outs & full height pull-out larder cupboard makes accessing packets & tins a breeze.
