Pipewell
Date: June 2010
Location: Pipewell
Sitting in 50 acres of impressive grounds with Victorian water garden the 19th century limestone, Pipewell hall is the perfect setting for a ‘Shortland’ character oak bespoke kitchen.
Our clients felt as the room was so large an entirely oak kitchen may be too much & opted for a painted central island. The colour scheme for the room included an accent of purple; a heritage version of the colour was chosen to compliment this & though painted, character oak was used to allow the grain pattern and character of the timber to show through.
From the baking of homemade cakes & biscuits to the butchering there own livestock our clients are very enthusiastic about food & cooking and wanted there kitchen to express this. As well as a 4-oven Aga they chose wolf and Sub-zero for there appliances adding a modular hob system to the island including BBQ grill, gas hob, steamer & fryer with rise & fall downdraft extractor to keep the views of the room uninterrupted.
To help storage we included a large worktop larder cupboard with bi-fold doors, drawers & tiered shelves. Whist a spice drawer & pullout knife & bottle cupboards all make life a little easier while cooking.
As the room would also to be for entertaining a portion of the space was used for a dining area & bar area. The bar area includes built-in a sub-zero Pro-48 & wine chillers and raised curved glass bar with tepan hob, integrated ice sink & Miele coffee machine all to compliment the natural oak cabinetry to the bar.
