Be Inspired: Neutral Hues…

It’s time for you to get inspired with interiors from Shortland...

Our bespoke kitchens and interiors provide a theatrical backdrop to daily life, designed to reflect a strong visual style while withstanding the rough and tumble of everyday life. In our blogs we will endeavor to bring you advice and inspirations that we love and use in our interiors, and in this article we’re talking about neutral hues...

We love soft, chalky colour pallets and feel they are used wonderfully in our interior creations. Subtle, delicate tones of greys, whites and creams give a chic and crisp look. While neutral colours can sometimes be given a harsh critique, branded boring or dull, we feel they offer a certain clean and fresh look that other colours simply can’t achieve as successfully.

We feel that greys creams and white work with whatever look and finish you’re trying to attain. Grey especially is a neutral colour but it has a softer edge than whites, with a much less stark impact. Simplistic white paints and essential greys can bring an understated drama to a space. Grey hues complement white shades while contrasting with them for a modern and fresh feel. The gives a crisp and clean finish and combined can provide a warm and light touch, which we feel works all year round.

Warm soft colours alongside these gentle greys, whites or creams, give a relaxed, inviting feel to any colour scheme. Splashes of colour can be added elsewhere, perhaps in paintings or wall art, against a neutral backdrop.
